its fine to use PvX builds, but once you get used to the build you should try to alter it just a little bit with your own skills.

PvX is fine imo aslong as you play around with the skills to suit your skill/style and aim and don't just treat it like is a bloody gospel.

Only Problem with PvX is some of the Builds are Over rated on the site. but that is a problem with portions of the Community of that site not being the sharpest axes in the armory. Secondly some of the Builds are out of day and remain in the "great" Section
example look at "Great Working GvG builds
http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Category:G...ing_GvG_builds
No Honor is still being listed even thow it has been nerfed eight ways from Sunday
also if you look at the No honor build they got the ranger wrong (No mending touch WTF?)
but in general the builds are decent Just don't put too much stock in the commentary.

PvX builds, no matter how mangled they are with respect to the good builds they are failing to copy, are nevertheless better than the Spirit Strength builds everyone runs.
It is the lesser of 2 evils.

So in other words, nothing wrong with PvX, and those ppl calling you a PvX noob or whatever, simply shouldnt be taken seriously at all.

You're just jealous of the awesomeness that is Spirit Strength.
But ye, PvX is just fine. People calling others PvX noobs are usually noobs themselves who can't take a defeat.

Calling someone PvXnoob or the like is justified when you can see that the person has just copied the build from there. Lack of weaponswapping is the best sign of it imo. When someone with a good build just stands in one weapon set, even if it's just the defensive one, is 99% surely a guy who has just copied the build.

Two considerations:
1) Your titles do not mean s***;
2) People calling other noobs for using PvX builds are dumbf*cks and should be ignored.

PvX is a great resource and most of the good builds are on there.
One problem is quality control, there are some truely dreadful and inefficient builds there that are rated great by some idiot or another (who ARE these people?).
The other main problem is having a build and knowing how to use it are two different things, sometimes the explanation on PvX is not very good and many poorer players just mash buttons in any order thinking that the build is good so the team problem can't be them.
Overall though, unless you kow what you are doing, PvX is an excellent starting place, just don't let it be the ending place too.

there's a few problems with pvx really, speaking as a reasonably active contibutor.
Rating System and Bias
Firstly the rating system is poor. Builds that even verge on meta will be awarded 5-5-X by some tard and basically everything else is trashed. So no surprise everyone ends up with very similar builds. Generally, as long as you have the balls to stand your ground and manage to successfully convince the pvx circlejerks your build is a winner, or already belong to said group, then it will be. There's also huge PvP biasing, so much of the PvE section is neglected, a lot things become outdated or ineffective due to skill changes but remain as they are for months.
The Holy Grail
PvX should be there to be PuG-friendly and give those with no idea at least SOME idea about how to complete something or try something. For better players it should be a backbone or concept to a better build that requires more co-ordination or skill. Instead, however, people are taking the builds as a be all and end all (especially in pve), when really some of them are just made by players as average as the next and could always be improved. The versions of the build are far from terrible, but could also be improved significantly.

definitely this ^^ some bad players don't like to lose to 'meta/common' builds and also insist on not playing them themselves because they want to be 'original' (i.e. bad)

I only use PvX to get some ideas. Some of them are a good point to start with. Then I made the appropriate changes to make them actually work.
They should add some kind of warning to people so they do just pick the builds and use them as-is.
